Choosing a mowing service can be challenging. There are many options ranging from the high school kid down the street to the multi-million dollar corporation. Here are a few (unbiased) tips:

1) Make sure they are insured. If your provider hurts themselves or someone else on your property, you could be held liable if they are not insured.

2) Check around the web. Most providers are on multiple web-sites with feedback from customers that have used them. Check out Yahoo business, Thumbtack, or Angies List.

3) Ask them who will be doing the work. Large companies have many employees, sometimes a different crew will be at your property each time. Using a smaller company ensures the people that cut your lawn are there each time, they get to know you and the ins and outs of your property.

4) Get multiple bids. Prices can range greatly. Be weary of a “low-ball” bid. Companies that offer rock bottom prices are often not insured and often only stay in business one or two years.
