Here in the Fort Collins Co area, we have a what is called “cool season grass”  This type of lawn thrives in areas with cold freezing winters and hot summers.   Most commonly in Colorado, we see Kentucky bluegrass, and tall fescue. Sometimes the different grasses are blended.

Why is this important? It is important to know what type of grass you have so you can schedule your watering and lawn mowing height accordingly.  It is recommended that these types of lawns are on a weekly mowing schedule.   During the hot summer months, mowing may be reduced, but again in the fall when the weather cool down, the grass begins to thrive once again and weekly mowing is recommended.

It is imperative to keep your cool season grass watered with at least 1 to 2 inches of water per week.  Without water in the hot summer months, our cool season grass will die off.

As always, please feel free to contact us with any questions regarding local lawn mowing, watering, fertilizing, or any other needs you may have.
